Environmental statistics reports

After the permit has been issued, the operator or a consultant hired by the operator must carry out an environmental monitoring of the company, which must include the implementation of the measures specified in the permit for the polluting activity of category A or B. According to the Law on Pollution, the operators of category A and B activities must prepare an annual report on the implementation of the permit conditions by 1 April of each year, which must be submitted to the competent regional environmental authority and the local government.

Cabinet Regulation No. 271 of 23.05.2017, “Regulations on Forms for Official Statistics on Environmental Protection” defines three types of reporting:

• Form 2 – Water. Report on the use of water resources.
• Form 2 – Air. Report on air protection.
• Form 3 – Waste. Report on waste generation.

Statistical reports must be submitted to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre by 1 March each year.

For activities involving chemical substances or mixtures, records must be kept in accordance with Cabinet Regulation No. 795 of 22.12.2015, “Procedure and Database for Keeping Records on Chemical Substances and Mixtures”.
