Computer modelling of air quality

Pollutant dispersal modelling allows calculation results to be displayed graphically to assess compliance with air quality standards. Pollutant dispersion modelling is performed using the AERMOD View software (licence number AER0006618).

Most often, the modelling is required as part of the development of a draft “emission limits for stationary pollution sources” report. The draft includes all emission sources of the company and simulates scenarios, taking into account site-specific meteorological conditions that may affect the dispersion of pollution and where the highest pollution levels are expected. The meteorological characterisation is based on long-term data from monitoring stations.

If it is necessary to model the situation together with background data, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre will prepare an existing (background) air pollutant dispersion calculation according to the price list.
